Can I increase my website traffic in 1, 2, 3 in 2023?

By Emily Lippens

Can I increase my website traffic in 1, 2, 3 in 2023?

Owning a website is just the first step, getting traffic to it is a whole other thing. That’s why we’ve created a list of helpful tips to increase your website traffic and boost your brand’s online presence. Let’s get started!

On-website

1. SEO

Search engines can be your greatest ally when it comes to optimizing your website’s visibility. That’s why we highly recommend making your content more search engine-friendly, whether it’s for Google, Bing, Yahoo, or any other platform. In fact, Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is a powerful technique that can help you achieve this goal.

By using effective techniques, creating high-quality content, and establishing authority, you can increase your website’s ranking and attract more visitors. While SEO can be done for free, mastering this skill takes practice and expertise.

Long-tail keywords

It often happens that the keyword that matters to your website is already covered by your competition. In that case, long-tail keywords will definitely be something you’ll need to explore. To create long-tail keywords, you  can type in a certain word and Google will already come up with a list of suggestions that might be relevant to you. For example, “marketing” is extremely generic and many people are using it. But a slightly longer keyword like “marketing automation” or “digital marketing” is already a lot more specific.

Internal & external linking

In order for your website to be viewed as highly credible by Google, it’s important to show authority, i.e. you know your own topic. A great way to gain authority in Google is through internal (you link to URLs to relevant content posts you published on your own website) and external linking (you link to URLs to relevant content posts of other people/websites).

LSI keywords

LSI (Latent Semantic Indexing) keywords are related to your target keywords. So, for example say you are writing an article about “cars”, then LSI keywords would be things like “Audi”, “BMW”, “vehicle”, “automobile” and so on. When Google reads your content, it will see you’re writing about cars, not just because there’s the word “car” in it, but because of all the LSI keywords in it too!

2. Let’s get technical

Website speed

First impressions are everything when it comes to your website. In fact, your website visitors will make a decision within the first few seconds of arriving whether to stay or leave. That’s why it’s critical to ensure that your website loads quickly and efficiently, as a slow-loading website can result in an immediate loss of potential leads. To put it simply, think of your website as a Formula 1 race car. You want to be faster than your competitors and win all the trophies, or in this case, attract and retain as many leads as possible.

Here are a few basics to help you make your website speed better:

Test your website speed with tools like: Pingdom, Google,…

Responsiveness

Nowadays people are accessing websites from a variety of devices, not just their desktop computers. With laptops, smartphones, tablets, and more, it’s critical to ensure that your website looks great on all of them. After all, if your website looks great on one device but terrible on others, it could be a major issue!

That’s why optimizing your website for mobile devices is one of the most important improvements you can make. With around 50% of website visits now coming from smartphones, failing to make your website responsive for mobile users could mean missing out on potential leads.

 Reduce your bounce-rate

Your bounce-rate is the percentage of people who visit only one page of your website before they leave the site. Ideally, you’d want to make sure that it stays as low as possible, because a high bounce-rate could mean that your content isn’t enticing at all! By offering exciting content, you can improve your bounce rate.

3. Analytics/Search Console

Analyze your website traffic

Increasing website traffic is a top priority for businesses of all sizes. One of the easiest ways to achieve this is to take a close look at your own website. If your website isn’t performing as well as you’d like, there’s likely a reason behind it. By identifying the issues that are holding your website back, you can take steps to fix them and drive more traffic to your site. Is your design outdated or unappealing? Is your content failing to engage visitors? Are your calls-to-action not positioned effectively? Are potential visitors having trouble finding your site?

There’s a wealth of information to be gleaned from Google Analytics and Google Search Console, such as your most popular pages, how long visitors are staying on your site, and what search terms are leading people to your site. By digging into this data and understanding your visitors, you can make informed decisions and take the necessary steps to improve your website’s performance.

Steal your competitor’s traffic

Want to outdo your competitors and improve your website’s ranking? SEMrush and aHrefs are fantastic tools to analyze their keywords and get insights into which pages are driving the most traffic. Armed with this information, you can create even better content and optimize it for those same keywords. This will not only help increase your website’s visibility but also boost your domain authority.

If your competitors are getting high-quality links, try to create better content and reach out to those websites. They might want to link to your website too!

And for a little extra boost, try paid promotion like Facebook ads. You can even target people who like your competitors!

Advertising

Well, it’s pretty straightforward: if you want more traffic to your website, paid search (SEA) or social media advertising are excellent options. However, we understand that it can be costly, especially if you’re not familiar with how it all works.

1. Facebook Ads to target and re-target

Facebook Ads can be your ultimate tool for attracting your target audience. And with Facebook Business Manager, you can be super specific about who you want to reach. Want to re-target people who have visited your website before? No problem, you can craft your ads based on the specific pages they viewed. Just make sure your ads are creative, eye-catching, and have strong calls-to-action, and you’re good to go!

2. Google Ads to target new people

Google Ads are a great way to attract new people to your website, because the Google audience is filled with people with an active need. They are looking for an answer to a specific question they have. So by making sure to bet on the right keywords and tailoring your ads with strong CTAs, you can gain new visitors in no time!

Social media

1. Add Enticing Content To Social Media Posts

To truly engage your audience, a mere link, article, or picture won’t cut it. You need to persuade and entice them to click and interact with your content. Inject some fun and excitement into your approach by teasing your audience with a sneak peek of what’s to come, while still leaving them curious and intrigued. Remember, the key to successful content marketing is not just about sharing information, it’s about building a connection with your audience and keeping them coming back for more. So, think creatively, be bold, and give your audience a reason to engage with your brand.

These (slightly extreme) examples might help you on your way:

“This service is going to change your life!”

“Want to win 4h extra on a day?”

2. Share your content on social media

Each social media platform has a unique audience, and it’s essential to find the one that resonates best with your brand’s message. Experiment and test to determine the ideal platform for your audience.

In recent years, LinkedIn has gained tremendous popularity, and it’s an excellent platform for sharing ideas and discussing business-related topics. By sharing relevant and captivating content and engaging with like-minded individuals, you’ll attract more visitors to your profile and potentially drive traffic to your website. By providing a glimpse into your personal and professional identity, you’ll create a compelling reason for people to want to learn more about your brand.

To make it even easier for people to share your content, consider integrating share buttons on your website. When people share your posts, your message will reach a wider audience, potentially transforming them into loyal brand advocates. By positioning your brand as a reliable source of information, you’ll attract and retain more customers, while simultaneously boosting your online presence.

So, don’t shy away from experimenting with different social media platforms and optimizing your content strategy to capture the hearts and minds of your audience.

3. Podcasts & vlogging

Vlogging is when you film what happens in your life, when you talk about a certain subject, and you basically do it all the time. While it may sound weird, it can be a great way to boost your business! Stay relevant by making business-related vlogs, like showing your visitors what a day in the life of one of your employees looks like. People that we as Be Bold team like to follow: Casey Neistat, Gary Vaynerchuck,…

Another great way to share ideas and knowledge is through podcasts. They’re a safe way to drive traffic to your site, as long as you are consistent about your podcast frequency and you promote your content appropriately. People that we as Be Bold team like to follow: Joe Rogan, Neil Patel,…

Best blogging practices

2. Make your headline more attractive

If you’re blogging, your headline is the first thing that your readers will see. That means you’ve got to make it count! A catchy headline is key to getting people to click on your post. But here’s the thing: generic just won’t cut it. You need to be original and stand out from the crowd. That being said, steer clear of clickbait – you don’t want to disappoint your visitors if your article doesn’t live up to their expectations. Make sure your headline speaks directly to your audience and delivers real value. After all, their time is valuable, and you want to make it worth their while!

Examples:

‘The best way to…’

‘Make your life easier with…’ or ‘the easiest way to…’

‘The fastest/quickest way to…’

When people are panicking, they want the fastest solution.

‘What we did when…’

Make sure that your headline offers insight into what your blogpost is about, use strong keywords, and perhaps A/B test to see which type of headline works best.

3. Guest blogging

If you’re looking to drive more traffic to your blog, why not try guest blogging? It’s a smart way to connect with a well-known blogger who writes about topics closely related to your business. By inviting them to guest blog on your site, you can attract visitors who are already fans of their work. And if they like what they see on your site, they may just stick around to check out what you have to offer!

4. What about your old blogs?

Improve old blog posts

Don’t let your past content go to waste! Instead, breathe new life into your existing blog posts by giving them a fresh perspective. With a little bit of creativity and some simple tweaks, you can revitalize forgotten gems and ensure that your best work stays in the spotlight. At our core, we believe that all efforts should be rewarded, and that’s why we’re here to help you make the most of your previous writing. By reimagining your content and approaching it from a different angle, you can attract a whole new audience and expand your reach like never before.

Relaunch old blog posts

Don’t let your top-performing content fall by the wayside! One innovative strategy is to give your old blog posts a full-on relaunch, creating the illusion of brand new content for your readers to enjoy. It’s a clever way to revive tried-and-true favorites and keep your audience engaged and excited about your brand. Why settle for stale content when you can make it fresh and exciting once again?
